When most people think about exercise, they think about dedicated workouts.
A morning run. A strength-training session. A yoga class. An hour carved out of an otherwise busy day to focus on health.
Those practices are valuable, and I encourage them. Strength training, cardiovascular fitness, mobility work, and intentional movement all play important roles in long-term health.
But one of the most overlooked realities in health and longevity is this:
Your body responds to how you move throughout the entire day, not just during your workout.
In many ways, movement frequency may be just as important as exercise intensity.
This is where modern life creates a challenge for human physiology.
Many people exercise for thirty to sixty minutes and then spend the majority of their remaining waking hours sitting. They move from their car to their desk, from meetings to meals, from the couch to bed, all while assuming that one workout has offset the effects of prolonged inactivity.
The body does not experience movement that way.
It experiences patterns.
It responds to repetition.
And when stillness becomes the dominant pattern, the body adapts accordingly.
